Training rooms are a necessity in the workplace nowadays. As innovative technologies and software are being introduced, work is becoming less time consuming, more efficient, and more computerized. Learning to operate these technologies however, requires office training so that the employees can work competently.

These training rooms are not just utilized for the purpose of providing employees with a learning space, but they also act as an interactive space where the sharing of ideas and thoughts is encouraged. In the past, traditional training rooms were made for the sole purpose of training; but modern training spaces are being designed in such a way that they can be utilized for multiple purposes. This will save the company the cost of building separate areas for different purposes including meetings, team projects, interviews and much more.

However, no matter how much effort is put into making the training room atmosphere less boring and more interactive, it is perceived as uninteresting by the employees. To eliminate this association, changes in the design are necessary to make surroundings more flexible and the training more effective.

Training Table Arrangements

The layout of the room is a vital aspect of a training room that could either transform it into a boring classroom or an interactive session. Most of the seating arrangements are planned according to the number of employees. Below are some training table layouts and their advantages and disadvantages.

Classroom Layout

This kind of layout is usually preferred when for one-way communication. Although it is an organized arrangement, it doesn’t promote interactivity and communication with the back benchers is nearly impossible, which makes those employees lose interest.

 

Seminar Layout

A seminar layout is similar to the classroom setting. However, in this arrangement, the chairs are slanted, creating a center cone in between. The participation in this arrangement is greater as compared to the classroom one. The gap in between allows the trainer to move about and interact with audience at the back which was can’t be done as easily in the classroom setting.

 

U shaped Layout

This arrangement encourages interaction because of the non-verbal eye contact it allows. It is appropriate for any training that includes demonstration. This is also good for group discussions in a formal setting.
